Our school is about so much more than what happens in the classroom—it’s about the community we build together! That’s where our Classroom Connectors come in: bringing families together, organizing fun gatherings outside of school, and ensuring every Morse family feels welcomed and connected.
- ....organizing a casual weekend playdate or caregiver coffee chat for your student’s class or grade level.
- ....helping classroom families stay connected and informed through email chains or group chats.
- ....lending an occasional hand to teachers when classroom needs arise.
What is the Classroom Connectors Program?
Friends of Morse operates the Classroom Connectors Program to foster a warm, inclusive network of families across every grade. When caregivers know each other, kids can build stronger friendships, and teachers feel supported, our whole school community thrives!
Over the past few years our Classroom Connectors have been instrumental in creating a culture of collaborative family-school partnerships. We welcome you to join FMS as we embark on another exciting school year of supporting our students, families, and Morse educators.
So, what would I actually have to do?
Specifics will vary based on volunteer and classroom preferences, but the core focus is building community among families in each classroom! Here is what to expect as a Classroom Connector:
- Be the Community Glue: Help families in your student’s class connect, exchange contact information, and get to know one another.
- Organize Family Gatherings: Plan a few casual get-togethers throughout the year (e.g., playground hangouts, park picnics, or ice cream meetups)—and use $100 provided by FMS to fund them!
- Welcome New Families: Reach out to incoming families so everyone feels included.
- Liaise with the Teacher: Act as a friendly point of contact if your teacher needs help passing along announcements or organizing occasional requests for volunteers or supplies.
- Have the full support of the FMS team behind you at every turn!
Why become a Classroom Connector?
- $100 Event Stipend: Receive $100 from FMS to fund activities for your classroom family gatherings.
- Build Lasting Connections: Get to know fellow caregivers in your student's class, as well as the educators who guide them every day.
- Create Belonging: Help make Morse an inclusive, welcoming community where every family feels connected.
Kindergarten Volunteer: “Working together with the other Classroom Caregivers was wonderful. We were a group of three and it felt very doable and even fun to have people to organize together with.”
Third Grade Volunteer: “...It was a good experience - not a heavy lift! Which I need because I work fulltime and have two kids. Making it easy for fulltime workers is important so that they can volunteer.”
First Grade Volunteer: “I had a wonderful experience being a classroom volunteer and even made friends in the process.”
Classroom Teacher: “The help that Connectors give in building community is fabulous…caregiver presence/engagement is really the (hardest) yet very best gift of all.”
The effort can be as large or small as you make it, and the return for our community is outsized!
