International Festival & Potluck - Nov 4, 2022

10/24/2022 6:08 pm

Wrap-up: Morse School International Festival 2022

The food! The energy! The activities and entertainment!

Over 300 members of the Morse community attended our annual International Festival & Potluck and it was AWESOME! This was the triumphant return of this family favorite event after a 3 year hiatus due to COVID-19. There was more food than you could imagine for the potluck dinner - our families truly outdid themselves making and bringing an incredible variety of dishes across many cultures. One of our beloved JK teachers - Mr. K - even cooked up fresh waffles for over an hour! Rumor has it that his students helped make the batter.

Our amazing volunteers planned and staffed the coolest activities - Greek dancing lessons, musical flags, World Cup soccer (special shout-out to our CRLS student volunteers), a Culture of India table, a tattoo station with flag tattoos and henna-like tattoos, an Aboriginal dot art activity, learn to write your name in different languages. Students earned raffle tickets for each activity they participated in, and we raffled off 3 amazing gift baskets at the end of the evening.

Speaking of the end of the evening...the grand finale was a performance by the MIT Lion Dance group. There were drums, costumes, acrobatics, and energy to spare - both from the dance group and the students. We learned so much about the traditional Lunar New Year lion dance. We got to see how the costumes work and the kids got to go up and touch the lions!

All in all, in was a night none of us will forget anytime soon.

We would be remiss if we didn't thank all of our volunteers. Thank you to the planning committee and the FMS board. Thank you to the school administrative staff. Thank you to the family who sponsored the entertainment. Thank you to all the folks who planned and staffed the activities. Thank you to everyone who organized the potluck and kept the food tables tidy. Thank you to everyone who cooked or brought a dish to the potluck. Amazing events like this don't happen without all of you!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Until next year!
